Hint: Moonwalk
Hit the Jump key, and while you're in the air press E. While you are on your way down press Q and A.
- Hit the space bar (jump) to climb vertically in the air, much like a Harrier jet. Once in the air, you can control your flying mount exactly the same way as a land mount, with the additional element of going up and down. While flying or swimming the 'X' key will make you move down.
- The normal flying mounts increase your speed in land and air by 60%. This is slower than the ground speed of an epic land mount, which increases speed by 100%. While the normal flying mount may seem a worse option than the epic land mount, keep in mind that you can simply fly over most enemies, as well as over impassable or rough terrain such as in Blade's Edge Mountains. This can save considerable travel time over an epic land mount.
- Any item, effect, or enchantment that would affect land mount speed also applies to flying mounts. These include Carrot on a Stick, Mithril Spurs, Riding Crop, Crusader Aura, and the glove enchant for mount speed.
- The Riding Crop provides a 10% speed boost to ground and air mounts. It does not stack with any other enchant or speed boosting object so once you have it, that's all you need. (Carrot on a Stick, you've served me well!)
- The Paladin can travel faster than anyone else while using the Crusader Aura speed buff. This is a 20% boost to land and flying mount speed.
- When using the riding crop, the epic flying mount is only 10% slower than the flying mount taxis! The epic flying mount travel time can be significantly shorter than a taxi because you can take direct routes - as opposed to the scenic routes that the taxi normally takes.
- You cannot remount if you get off your flying mount while in the air, because you are moving. You will have to land (hopefully at a non-fatal speed) before you can get on your mount again.
- Splat! Along those lines, if you get off your mount while too high, hopefully you have a device or spell that will slow you down, such as Slow Fall, Levitate, or an engineering device.
- For aerial daredevils, you can try to dismount and attack other players in-air - again, hopefully you have some way of slowing your fall after your combat maneuver.
- Most forms of crowd control abilities, such as Polymorph, Fear, and even the Discombobulator Ray (awww) do not work against players on flying mounts.
- Be careful flying your mount around enemy towns - they usually have an elite aerial guard patrol, which can literally kill you before you hit the ground.
- If you log out while on a flying mount, you'll still be on it when you come back.
- There are certain areas you cannot go while flying. You may run up into an invisible wall and a message will indicate that you can travel no further.
- If you happen to die in too remote of an area while flying, you may have to use a Spirit Healer to recover your body. Ouch!
- Some "secret" places in Outland are only reachable by flying mount.
- There are all sorts of interesting things to discover with your flying mount. For example, many floating objects including tiny islands are scattered around Outland. Have fun exploring!
Blizzard Entertainment® reveals new expansion for its popular subscription-based massively multiplayer online role-playing game at BlizzCon™ gaming festival
ANAHEIM, Calif. -- August 3, 2007 -- Blizzard Entertainment, Inc. today announced plans for the second expansion to World of Warcraft®, its award-winning massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG). Unveiled at the company's BlizzCon™ gaming festival before an audience of more than 8,000 gamers, World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King™ will open the forbidding wasteland of Northrend to exploration by the hardiest adventurers. New levels of power, challenging new dungeons and encounters, an exciting new character profession, and the game's first hero class are just some of the new features awaiting players in Wrath of the Lich King.

"This expansion will add some of the most infamous characters and settings from the Warcraft® universe to World of Warcraft," said Mike Morhaime, president and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment®. "In addition to new story content, Wrath of the Lich King will introduce a number of features specifically requested by players over the past couple of years. We're looking forward to sharing further details with everyone as development progresses."
Players last visited Northrend in Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne™, when Arthas Menethil fused with the spirit of Ner'zhul to become the Lich King, one of the most powerful beings in the Warcraft universe. He now broods atop the Frozen Throne deep in Icecrown Citadel, clutching the rune blade Frostmourne and marshaling the undead armies of the Scourge. In Wrath of the Lich King, the forces of the Alliance and the Horde will venture into battle against the Scourge amid Northrend's howling winds and fields of jagged ice.
Building on the foundation established in World of Warcraft and The Burning Crusade, Wrath of the Lich King will add a rich variety of content to an already massive game. New features coming with the game's second expansion include:
Death Knight Hero Class: Create a high-level Death Knight character -- the game's first hero class -- once certain challenges have been met.
Increased Level Cap: Advance to level 80 and gain potent new talents and abilities along the way.
Northrend: Explore the harsh new continent of Northrend, packed with new zones, quests, dungeons, monsters, and items -- and do battle with the undead armies of the Lich King.
"Inscription" Profession: Learn this exciting new profession and gain unique ways to permanently enhance spells and abilities in the game.
Siege Weapons and Destructible Buildings: Take the battle to another level with new player-vs.-player game mechanics and new battlefields to wage war on.
New Character Customization: Change how characters look and express themselves, with different hairstyles and dance animations.
Since launching in November 2004, World of Warcraft has become the world's most popular MMORPG, with a subscriber base of more than 9 million players. The game's first expansion, The Burning Crusade, broke PC-game sales records in North America and Europe by selling nearly 2.4 million copies in its first 24 hours of availability and approximately 3.5 million copies in its first month. World of Warcraft is available in seven different languages and, in addition to North America and Europe, is played in mainland China, Korea, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, and the regions of Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau.

A socketed item is like any other item in World of Warcraft, except that it can be upgraded by attaching magical gemstones into the item itself. This imbues the item with additional powers similar to an enchantment. The number of sockets and the types of gems used within the item allow for a wide variety of customizations based upon how you wish to improve your character.

How do I place a gem into a socketed item?
If an item has sockets, shift-right-click on it to bring up the item's socketing window. Here, you can simply drag and drop gems from your inventory to the sockets. Once you are satisfied with your selections, click the "Socket Gems" button at the bottom of the window. Be aware that socketing is permanent - the gems are permanently affixed to your socketed item and there is no way to undo your decision.
What can you put into a socketed item?
There are three primary colors of gems that can be placed into a socketed item: red, blue, and yellow. In addition, there are "secondary colored" gems - orange, purple, and green - that match two colors. Players can place any color gem into a socket; however, matching all of an item's sockets with their corresponding colored gems can award additional bonuses. These dormant bonuses appear in grey text below the sockets. There is also a special type of gem called a meta gem, which fits specifically into a meta gem socket.
Can I put a different gem into a socket that already has a gem in it?
Yes. However, any gems that were already socketed will be destroyed in the process - think of it as "overwriting" the old gem with the new one.
Do I have to fill all the sockets in an item at once?
No. You can fill one socket at a time until you find the right gems for other slots, or fill them all at once.
How do I gain a socket bonus?
As stated above, socketed items have dormant bonuses which appear in grey text below the sockets. This bonus will become active when certain criteria are met - usually when all an item's sockets are filled with gems that match the colors of the sockets. If an item has a red socket and two blue sockets, placing a red and two blue gems into the corresponding colored sockets will activate the socket bonus. The socket bonus stacks on top of the stat bonuses the three gems would normally provide.
Note: If a gem matches the socket it is being placed into, the socket will begin to sparkle.

The nearest bank is in Shattrath City, which you can reach by going west through Hellfire Peninsula into Zangarmarsh, then follow the signs to Shattrath City.
Lieutenant Amadi is at the small tower just northwest of Honor Hold
Altumus is behind a broken wagon on the road leading east from Honor Hold
Bonechewer Orcs are just north of Honor Hold, along the main east/west road.

Follow the road west from Honor Hold to enter the next zone: Zangarmarsh.
There is no flight path at the Cenarion Refuge in Zangarmarsh, it's just a quest/faction hub. Take the road north, then follow the west fork from there to the next town (Telredor) for the Alliance flight path. Horde should take the east fork to find their town of Swamprat Post, they also have a town at Zabra'jin in the west.
Glowcaps and Bog Lord Tendrils are faction turn-ins for Sporeggar, Unidentified Plant Parts are faction turn-ins for Cenarion Refuge.
Save everything that's not gray - odds are you'll find a quest that requires it. If not, there's a good chance you can sell it to other players on the Auction house (for quests you haven't found yet).
To reach Shattrath City, follow the road south from Cenarion Refuge into Terokkar Forest. Shattrath City is right there after you enter the zone.
